Brief bio:
Dr. Srilathaa Gunasekaran is a senior
ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. She
trained at the apex institute of the country – All India Institute of Medical
Sciences, New Delhi for around 6 years. As a senior registrar in AIIMS, she was
part of the pioneering team using Wave light Refractive Suite for FemtoLASIK
surgery.
Later she worked as a Consultant in Medanta
the Medicity, Gurgaon for around 7 years being part of the founding team in
setting up the Division of Ophthalmology. She headed the department of cornea
and refractive surgery at Medanta performing large number of FemtoLASIK,
Contoura and ICL procedures. She also spearheaded the launch and successful
functioning of Hospital Cornea Retrieval Program in Medanta – an eye donation
drive to restore the sight of corneal blind patients.
Dr Srilathaa is an excellent cataract
surgeon with experience in implantation of various intraocular lenses and also
paediatric cataract surgeries. She has keen interest in treating keratoconus
patients with all latest advancements. She has expertise in all kinds of cornea
and ocular surface procedures – corneal collagen crosslinking, customised
corneal transplant techniques, limbal stem cell transplants and
keratoprosthesis. She has first-hand experience in treating large number of
corneal infections. She has been an invited faculty at various national
conferences to deliver talks and instruction courses in her specialization. She
also received Santen educational grant award from the Asia Cornea Society to
undergo specialised cornea training at Singapore National Eye Centre,
Singapore.
